My Summer Mocktail Guide

Make your next cheers with a mocktail

I love a glass of wine or delicious margarita. But the reality is alcohol often makes me feel like crap these days and not to mention the studies out there are not a good look for your health. No judgement from me here though, I’ve had my own journey to switching from cocktail hour to mocktail hour (that’s a post for another time). That being said, I often need to take the edge off a bit and also, water is a little boring sometimes! Keep reading for my APP approved (non-alcoholic) libations.

For Bitter For Worse makes herbaceous drink is served perfect over ice, in a wine glass, with a sprig of rosemary. It’s equally refreshing as it is warming with the herbs/spices. It’s very beautiful and perfect for a dinner party or really any other day of the week.

If you’re reading this in the summer time, spritz season is so fun but hangovers are not. I love this as an alternative to a “spritz” as it’s so refreshing. Curious has other flavors but I will be honest this is the only one I’ve tried mainly because I love it so much! There’s a perfect balance of sweetness, bitter herbs, and a hint of effervesence.

De Soi was started by Katy Perry and is delicious. Her drinks come in cans and bottles which would make this a great dinner party gift. These drinks have a unique botanical flavor that not only make them taste great but give that immediate sense of calm that we can all use from time to time. I’ve been using adaptogens for about a year now and they really make a difference in my mood, anxiety, and more!

These stick packs are great when you need something a little bubbly and flavorful. They’re naturally effervescent and are mood boosting, energy giving, mind sharpening and more. I love these for a refreshing afternoon pick me up. Once you’ve added them to your cart, be sure to use xoapp for a discount at checkout!

Sometimes you need more than just water

I love a slice of lemon, a bunch of ice and sprig of mint in a wine glass. This feels a bit more elevated and is very refreshing on a hot summer day.

Dram for me is where it all began. Their tag line is “Real Plant Magic” and it’s true! I started drinking their drinks a few years ago on my sister’s recommendation. The CBD goes a long way after a long work day. They also have adaptogenic drinks that are equally effective. All of their flavors are delicious, unique, and small batch made in Colorado. They also test for toxins in their water that is often found in other seltzers. Cannot recommend them enough!

My other favorite water combo…

Is lemon and cucumber. It’s equally hydrating as it is delicious. Serve it over ice with a straw and sit outside and you’re good to go on a hot afternoon.

Fresh Coconut Water

When we were in Jamaica, instead of a cocktail before dinner every day, we instead indulged in a freshly cut and cracked coconut. It was cold, refreshing, fun, and very delicious. The best part about this was it was something we could do with our son.

Cheers to you for making a conscious decision that is better for you and your health. While I do enjoy a drink now and then, I have fully embraced a much more conscious life with out alcohol. If you live in NYC, I recommend checking out Boisson - it’s a store dedicated to all things non alcoholic. They also ship! You might also take a search for a local store in your own neighborhood. I hope you feel inspired by all of these suggestions! If you try any of them, be sure to comment below and/or tag me @ashleypattenpilates on Instagram!
