The Best Advice I Can Give You To Help Get Your Workouts In.

As a pilates instructor who has worked in a gym/studio for almost 13 years now, you’d think it’s easy for me to get my workouts in. Yes this is sometimes the case but often like you, I have troubles getting them done too.

As a professional, it’s important for me to take time each week to do self practice and exploration so I can be a better teacher for you. It’s also important to be a student and always learning so I take classes and sessions just like you from my own teachers. These two aspects are great but the key to them actually helping me is this: you must schedule and make a plan in advance. We are all so busy (even more so now with managing how Covid has changed our lives) scheduling time each week will truly set you up for success.

The key to long-term results is consistency.

For some, setting a standing schedule helps them block out time well in advance and continuously schedule around their workouts. For others, they need to play it more week to week. Take time each weekend for the upcoming week (or pick whatever day works for you and maybe even do a few weeks at a time). Sign up for your classes, book a session, or if you’re going to do your own workout put it in your calendar so it doesn’t keep getting pushed off throughout the day. Having a plan always makes me feel better. If something comes up, don’t stress as the beauty of making a plan is you’ve set yourself up for success long term.

So, don’t just lie there thinking about your next workout pull out your calendar and make a plan. I’ll leave you with this quote by Charles Buxton that really resonates with me:

You will never find time for anything. If you want time you must make it.
