May’s Conscious Covets

May is Women’s Health Month

I’m so excited for this month’s focus! We will be looking at things that make us live and feel better, healthier lives all month long on this covet's list. Inspiring women to take the best care of themselves is something I have been passionate about for years so this one is especially for you! Keep reading for all I got into below!

I have had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Suzanne Fenske a few times and now she’s my Doctor. She’s an expert in women’s health for those of us over 40. She’s also the big sister you want when you’re in the Dr’s office talking to her about your health. She’s double board certified in Western and Functional Medicine. Here she speaks with Gwenyth Paltrow (who also happens to be her patient) about all things menopause.

I’ve slowly been swapping out clothes that have PFAS and are made with synthetic materials especially in my undergarments. I found these underwear by Pact. They’re made with organic cotton, free from junk materials AND they fit/feel GREAT! Highly recommend swapping things out as needed because this is an investment that’s definitely worth it especially when toxic PFAS could be near our reproductive organs, etc.

I am so into these! They are the perfect thing when you need a little crunch in your lunch (or snack!). I have been packing them for a quick and easy lunch with sliced turkey, cheese, avocado slices plus as simple greens salad on the side. Or, whip up my tuna or salmon salad alongside sliced peppers/cucumbers or some arugula. These are high protein, easy to make lunches that travel well - perfect if you’re on the go. They are loaded with good for you seeds, fiber and protein - no gluten or junk ingredients. Highly recommend!

Holy moly are these good! I mean, so good! They are individually wrapped bite sized chocolates that have a unique flavor. There are 3 different flavors you can try, this is the only one I have gotten my hands on yet. Right now, you can only buy them in person at Whole Foods, Kroger or your local store (they have a store locator here!). If you live on the UES here in NYC, I got them at Matter of Health on 72/1. I hope you LOVE them as much as I do :)

I am loving these sandals for the summer! They are super cute, slightly elevated in look and very comfortable. I walked miles in them the other day while out for lunch with a friend and my feet were just fine at the end of the day! You can dress them up or down depending on what you pair them with so you can really make them go the extra mile. They aren’t cheap but they won’t break the bank either - I snagged a first time buyer discount when I signed up for their mailing list. What I love most about them is they aren’t trendy so they won’t feel out of season next summer!

This book was a bit slow to start but I could tell it would get good. It quickly caught my attention and took me to another time in history. It can be a bit hard to read as it’s about rape, inequality, etc but was very good and I would recommend.

Thanks for taking the time to read what’s on this list! If you check anything out be sure to tag me on Instagram @AshleyPattenPilates and/or comment below!
